Winemaker’s Craft ‘Single Suitcase’ Series salutes the many immigrants who arrived in Australia during the 1950’s with only a handful of dreams and a single suitcase to build a better life.
Dreams in hand, these immigrants also bought their love of wine, family traditions and culture.
Winemaking is embedded in the Italian way of life and is an important part of the nation’s history. The new immigrants brought their love of table wine which significantly influenced our winemaking styles and with their viticulture knowledge, they planted their most beloved varieties and found Australia’s terroir akin to Italy’s.
In the pursuit of emerging varietals
Thanks to this influence, Australia’s viticultural community is now one of the most innovative and experimental in the world. We are proud to share with you our ‘Single Suitcase’ Barbera, Aglianico and Sagrantino, three of the beloved Italian varieties.
