Hunter Valley “Unsung” Heroes Wine & Food Pairing Experience
Autumn in the Hunter Valley is golden light, crisp afternoons and flavours that lean a little deeper and more savoury.
It’s the perfect season to slow down, taste thoughtfully and explore what this region grows best, not just in the glass,
but in the way wine and food work together.
The Hunter Valley “Unsung” Heroes experience is for visitors and food lovers who want more than a standard wine-only tasting.
Across six wines and six degustation-style pairings, you’ll discover how the right bite can lift aroma,
soften tannin and bring texture into balance.
A Guided Degustation That Showcases Emerging Hunter Valley Varietals
This tasting shines a light on emerging and alternative grapes being grown across Australia’s oldest wine region.
Many of these varieties are also proving to be a smart fit for the Hunter, thriving with less intervention in the vineyard.
The Hunter Valley is famous for Semillon, Chardonnay and Shiraz.
In February and March, we’re also featuring emerging favourites that thrive here too, including Fiano and Gewürztraminer.
Hosted by our Cellar Door team at Saddler’s Creek Wines in Pokolbin, the experience is guided but unpretentious.
You’ll taste, compare and chat through each pairing, with plenty of time to ask questions and note your favourites.
What to Expect
Settle in and enjoy a guided progression of six pairings over 90 minutes.
The menu is designed to elevate each wine’s natural character, moving from fresh, aromatic whites through to structured reds.
The tasting is presented in two brackets, giving you a natural pause to compare styles and reset your palate before the reds.
Menu & Pairings
Six wines. Six pairings. Served degustation-style.
The best part? You don’t need to “know” wine to enjoy this.
If you love flavour and you’re curious about how the Hunter Valley tastes in Autumn, you’re in the right place.
