The Art of Chardonnay: A Degustation Masterclass
Set within the intimate Barrel Room in Pokolbin, Hunter Valley, this immersive degustation lunch celebrates the craftsmanship behind one of the world’s most loved varietals.
Discover the Beauty and Diversity of Chardonnay
Chardonnay is one of the most expressive white wines in the world — shaped by vineyard, climate and craft. On Saturday 15 November, Saddler’s Creek Wines invites guests to explore this diversity through a guided Chardonnay degustation masterclass hosted by Head Winemaker Brett Woodward and Chef Mattia Secchiero of Mangia @ Saddler’s.
A Guided Journey Through Six Expressions of Chardonnay
Throughout the afternoon, guests will explore six distinctive Chardonnay wines, each reflecting a different vineyard site, winemaking technique and style.
Brett Woodward leads the experience, sharing insights into how factors like oak influence, barrel fermentation and ageing bring depth and texture to each wine. The result is an engaging exploration of how Chardonnay evolves from vine to glass — and how each expression tells its own story.
A Six-Course Degustation by Chef Mattia Secchiero
To complement the wines, Chef Mattia Secchiero (Chef Chiero) has curated a six-course degustation that highlights the individuality of every Chardonnay.
Drawing on his Venetian heritage and love for seasonal ingredients, Chef Chiero brings together refined dishes designed to harmonise with each wine’s personality — from bright and citrusy to bold and textural.
