OUR REGIONS

The Hunter Valley

Saddler’s Creek is perfectly located in the picturesque Southern Region of the Parish of Pokolbin. Our vineyard lies at the foothills of the Brokenback Range where iconic vineyards, still bearing, date back to 1860’s.

The Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest viticulture area and the premier wine tourism destination.  It is rich in viticultural history and known as the birthplace of Australian wine when in 1832 James Busby planted his first vine cutting brought back from Europe.  The warm and humid climate of the region is unique in Australian wine, leading to unique wine styles like long lived Semillon and earthy Shiraz.

Saddler’s Creek is perfectly located in the picturesque Southern Region of the Parish of Pokolbin. Our vineyard lies at the foothills of the Brokenback Range where iconic vineyards, still bearing, date back to 1860’s.

Our Hunter Valley grapes come from our own Saddler’s Vineyard and from the nearby Ryan’s Estate Vineyard, planted in 1988 by our and consultant Phil Ryan, a long-time Winemaker/Vigneron and Hunter Valley Living Legend. As well as the highly regarded Tinkler family vineyard.

Fast forward to today, this is an Australian wine region that is not only defined by its rich history but is complimented by a new generation of innovative young winemakers namely our very own, Brett Woodward.
