You’ve decked the halls and put up your tree, swapped presents and are ready to sit down to a beautiful brunch, lunch or dinner. A bountiful Christmas feast that demands a beautifully dressed table to match. With soft, soothing tones inspired by the Australian landscape, these simple table styling tips presented by Senior Stylist Dani Lyons will make hosting this Christmas one to remember.
Be Inspired By Nature
When styling an interior, expert designers always collect inspiration from the natural elements that surround a space.
The same can be said for styling a dining table. Using natural elements like eucalyptus and gum stems smell absolutely divine, their vibrancy creates an earthy effect tying in with the natural beauty of the Christmas tree.
“Greenery runners are a favourite Christmas table decoration of mine,
beautiful, and their smell is absolutely divine.” says Dani.
When keeping in a natural theme, styling with organic pieces, textures and colours ensures a cohesive overall look.
A simple way to include various textures and tones is by layering crockery and cutlery.
Dani’s Christmas Dining Table this year is styled with five layers. The first; an organic Sinamay placemat, followed by a gold charger plate, lovely stone dinner plate and pale blue appetizer plate.
Gold accents always add a touch of glamour, not to mention it is always on trend.
This festive season gold crockery has definately made it’s mark.
For that special touch of Christmas luxury, dress your table setting with some extra gold sparkle.
Accessorise, Accessorise, Accessorise
When the clock strikes twelve in the candlelight, there is something to be said of the magic of Christmas.
Decorating your dining table, buffet, side tables or kitchen with candles in the day or night, adds warmth and ambiance to your space. Softening the overall tone of your event.
Crystal, and hand cut glass are always accessories welcome on a beautiful tablescape.
Dani recommends the classic Milano Glass Vase; filled with luscious Australian greenery, fresh florals or on trend
preserved bouquets from your local florist. The perfect centrepiece.
Wow Them On Arrival
Having a bar cart or drinks trolley set up with cold refreshments ready in a smart and stylish ice bucket, will wow your guests on arrival. Set up with champagne glasses and icy cold Saddler’s Creek Wines bubbles, it’s a great place for guests to mingle before being seated at your beautifully set table.
“For this set up, I’ve chosen the Franklin Drinks Trolley in White, I have added some flora and fauna to it just to give it a little bit of life. I really want this to be a welcoming destination when people walk in.” says Dani.
Pair Like A Sommelier
A beautiful dining table setting demands a deliciously well paired wine to sip during festive feast.
Our friends at Saddler’s Creek Wines recommend beginning with appetizers and sparkling wine, then matching a white wine with entree. Teaming red wine with the main and closing the meal with a decadently
sweet dessert wine.
